10185077 HO 350 Camaro
Conversion This ZZ4 engine
conversion kit for 1983-87 Camaro vehicle is no longer
available. The following information is for those customers
who purchased a kit and require service parts.
Chevrolet engineers have developed an emission-legal
conversion kit to install a High Output 5.7-liter (350ci)
small-block V8 in a 1982-87 Camaro originally equipped with an
LG4 or L69 305ci V8 engine and a 700R4 automatic transmission.
This coordinated package of components significantly improves
vehicle performance while retaining all required emission
controls.
Performance: During development of the HO 350 Camaro
conversion, a prototype HO 350 engine equipped with a
computer-controlled Quadrajet carburetor and all emission
controls required for this application, produced 308
horsepower (at 5000 rpm) and 365 lb-ft torque (at 3500 rpm).
The Chevrolet Raceshop's 1987 Camaro test vehicle equipped
with an emission-legal HO 350 ran a quarter-mile elapse time
of 13.83 seconds at 98 mph.
Certification: When all components are installed as
specified in the instruction manual, the HO 350 conversion
meets emission requirements under EPA Memorandum 1A for
operation in 49 states (excluding California). The conversion
is also legal for sale and use in California under California
Resources Board Exemption Order #D-278. Note the entire HO 350
conversion package must be installed exactly as described in
the manual to comply with emission regulations. Also note that
this conversion is certified only for the specific year
models, engines, and transmissions listed above.
Installation: The HO 350 conversion is designed for
"do-it-yourself" installation. A comprehensive instruction
manual is included. Minor welding is required to install the
exhaust system. The HO 350 Camaro conversion is a coordinated
package of components that work together to improve vehicle
performance. Major assemblies include: Engine: The heart of
the Camaro conversion is the HO 350 Chevrolet small-block V8
(P/N 24502609). High performance engine assembly has been
updated with new hydraulic roller camshaft profile, a
low-profile dual-pattern intake manifold, revised valvetrain
components, and other improvements.
Air Cleaner: The HO 350 Camaro breathes through a
dual-snorkel air cleaner. A "ram air" system channels cool air
to the carburetor through flexible air ducts. Fuel Pump: A
high-volume in-tank electric pump meets HO engine's fuel
requirements. The pump kit includes vent lines, a sending
unit, and a wiring harness. An adjustable external regulator
controls fuel pressure.
Exhaust System: The HO 350 conversion package
includes a low-restriction exhaust system with dual catalytic
converters, high-flow exhaust manifolds with 2 1/4" outlets, a
single 3" diameter tailpipe, and a transverse muffler.
Calibration: The kit includes an engine control
module (ECM), specially programmed PROM chips, a coolant fan
switch, an electric spark control (ESC) module, and Quadrajet
secondary metering rods.
Transmission: A pressure regulator spring, boost
valve, and servo assembly improve the 700R4 automatic
transmission's shift firmness.
Rear Control Arms: Rear axle control arms with
high-durometer (50K) bushings reduce wheel hop under hard
acceleration.

12363230 HT 3.4 Tired of that tired 2.8 V6 in your S-truck? It's
time for a major upgrade, GM Performance Parts style. The HT
3.4 is a bolt in replacement for the 2.8 V6 in your 1982 -
1985 S-10 pickup or Blazer with automatic transmission. And
it's emission legal in 49 states (Yes, you guessed it,
California said no.) But for the rest of us, the HT 3.4 is the
best thing going. With 160 horsepower and 194 Ft. Lbs. of
torque your truck will feel better than new, and tow better
than ever. The heads have large 1.72" intake and 1.42" exhaust
valves and combustion chambers that yield a healthy 9 to 1
compression ratio. The camshaft is a high lift, short duration
design, developed to produce lots of strong low end torque and
mid range horsepower. With .427" intake and .454" exhaust
lift, the cam ensures a strong pull to 5000 RPM. Doesn't sound
like your 2.8 V6 at all does it? It isn't, when GM Performance
Parts develops an engine we focus on making power. But not
power for the sake of power, but power where you need it. For
great drivability, towing performance and maybe even a little
off road fun. The HT 3.4, a serious upgrade for your favorite
little truck. With 40 more horsepower than your 2.8 V6, why
would you even consider rebuilding that old 2.8? The induction
system, ignition system, exhaust, emission controls, water
pump and other parts required to bolt in your new HT 3.4 are
already on your truck. Sounds like a weekend project or talk
to your GM Performance Parts Authorized Center, they can
install it for you.
Technical Notes: This is for engines with carburetors only, not
released for TBI usage. This engine does not have a clutch
boss on the side of the block for standard transmission
application.

12371171 ZZ502/502 Complete Engine
Kit The king of all big block crate
engines is the ZZ 502/502, with torque and horsepower that
will have you grinning and streetable manners that have your
competition wondering what hit them. The ZZ 502/502 represents
our latest and best efforts to develop awe inspiring big block
power in a dependable, durable and drivable big block crate
engine.
With its big valve aluminum heads, roller camshaft and
complete dyno tuned induction and ignition system, this is as
close as you will come to a custom built 502 at crate engine
prices. And for those that like to grind on heads, change
cams, mill for compression or whatever, we've left it only
partially assembled. Make no mistake, everything you need is
there, but you don't need to disassemble anything to make head
mods or an intake swap. It really is the best of both worlds,
bolt it together and go, or tweak it to meet your specific
needs. It's like someone at GM Performance Parts has been
there, and we have.
The ZZ 502/502 makes extensive use of aluminum to keep
weight down. Including aluminum heads, intake, water pump, and
valve covers. Additionally, this king of the crate engines is
full of heavy duty parts, to ensure that it will be making
awesome power for a long, long time. With its forged aluminum
pistons, forged shot peened steel connecting rods with 7/16"
bolts, forged steel crankshaft, four bolt main block,
stainless steel valves, 6 quart oil pan, and windage tray, the
ZZ 502/502 seems more like a custom race engine than a crate
engine. With a 5800 rpm redline it might just feel more like a
custom race engine than a crate engine too.
Available as a long block kit or a complete engine kit, the
ZZ 502/502 is designed to meet your needs. The base kit
includes a fully assembled short block with 2.25" intake
aluminum heads, valvetrain, aluminum valve covers, torsional

12486041 350 HO Our lowest priced crate engine, the 330 horsepower
350 HO doesn't sacrifice power or durability, it just pumps up
the value. With its four bolt main block, nodular iron
crankshaft, PM steel connecting rods and light but strong cast
aluminum pistons, this engine screams durability. Add to the
strong foundation a pair of 64cc Vortec cast iron cylinder
heads and a dual pattern camshaft with just a bit of a "lumpy"
idle, and you've got the muscle car small block that you've
been looking for. Dressed to impress with chrome valve covers
and timing cover, this engine will look great between the
fenders of your favorite street rod, muscle car or grass roots
racer. The cylinder heads on this great little performer use
1.94" intake and 1.50" exhaust valves that are sprung with
1999 Corvette L3I valve springs. The 64cc chambers yield a
healthy, but streetable 9.1 to 1 compression ratio. The cam is
a modern dual pattern interpretation of the old '65 to '67
Corvette 327 cam. But with more lift and duration on the
exhaust side, it does a better job of clearing exhaust from
the combustion chamber. We also decreased duration and lift
ever so slightly on the intake side to build more cylinder
pressure. The result is a cam that makes great torque and
horsepower with the 350 HO's 9.1 to 1 compression ratio. Add
the new dual plane intake manifold P/N 12496820, 650 cfm
carburetor, HEI distributor, torsional damper, water pump and
exhaust manifolds or headers and you've got an outstanding
muscle motor with a broad, smooth torque curve and an honest
330 horsepower. This manifold has four bolts, not six, to
attach it to the cylinder head. Older six-bolt manifolds will
not fit the new Vortec heads. The 350 HO is not intended for
marine use, and should only be used in 1975 and earlier
pre-emissions street vehicles or any year off road
vehicles.
Technical Notes:
Engine ID code is CC. Requires a
counterweighted flywheel or flex plate, 10105832, 14088646,
14088650, 14088765, or 12554824. See flywheel chart. Requires
torsional damper 6272221 (6.75") or 12555879 (8"). Oil
dipstick located on right side. 650 cfm carburetor
recommended. Chrome valve covers and timing cover included.
Intake manifold, distributor, flywheel, torsional damper,
water pump, and exhaust manifolds are not included.
Distributor P/N 1104067 or melonized distributor gear P/N
10456413 must be used on all crate engines with steel
camshafts.

12495515 Ram Jet 350 You may recall the Ram Jet brand from the GM
mechanical fuel injection systems of the 50's. Back then
everyone wanted a "fuelie" and today that's even more true. GM
Performance Parts has brought back the Ram Jet name with its
all new electronic port fuel injection systems for small-block
and big-block crate engines. The small-block Ram Jet 350's
intake manifold is styled like the Ram Jet of yesterday, but
that is where the similarity ends. The all new Ram Jet 350
uses state of the art components developed by GM to give you
all of the benefits of modern electronic engine management.
Who better to fuel inject your hot rod than the people who
build 5 million fuel injected cars and trucks per year,
including the one in your driveway. Unlike some after market
systems, Ram Jet offers great cold starts, hot starts, always
ideal air to fuel ratios and exceptional throttle response,
power and drivability.
The all new 350 horsepower Ram Jet 350 from GM
Performance Parts makes it easy to have electronic fuel
injection on any 1976 or older vehicle originally equipped
with a carburetor. The secret is the industry leading MEFI 3
controller. This new controller fits in the palm of your hand
and was originally developed by GM Power train for marine
applications. MEFI 3 is ideally suited for use in street rods,
street machines and sportsman racers. Installation is simple,
the Ram Jet 350 is an assembled 350 crate engine with Vortec
cylinder heads, Ram Jet induction system, wiring harness, MEFI
3 controller, and detailed instructions. Once installed in the
vehicle, a user needs only to supply 12V power and fuel.
Please note the fuel pump recommendations in the Ram Jet
instruction manual. The Ram Jet 350 has it all, great
nostalgic styling, drivability unsurpassed by carburetors or
after market fuel injection, power to spare and a hot rod idle
that sounds like Woodward Avenue in 1969 all over again. GM
Performance Parts is "More Than Just Power" and once you've
driven a Ram Jet you'll understand why.
Components for this manifold are sold separately, or as
kit assembly P/N 12498032.

12496769 Fast Burn 385 With more ZZZ through ZZ4 crate engines sold over
the years than any other high performance crate engine, it
only makes sense that GMPP would continue to improve that
successful family of engines. The new Fast Burn uses the
proven ZZ4 short block and ads to it the Fast Burn cylinder
heads for 385 value packed horsepower. With value in mind, the
Fast Burn uses stamped rocker arms and the same ZZ4 camshaft
that powers thousands of hot rods. The Fast Burn is an
excellent choice for the basis of a custom engine. Its strong
forged steel crankshaft and forged powdered metal connecting
rods have been proven to 500 horsepower. And its Fast Burn
cylinder heads are hungry for a little more camshaft,
approximately 425 horsepower at 6000 rpm is achievable by
adding the HOT cam and 1.6 self aligning rocker arms.
Value priced small-block power, great durability, easy
power upgrades. It's all that and more from the "More Than
Just Power" people at GMPP.

12498772 ZZ383/425 Crate
Engine
With GM's legendary Fast Burn cylinder heads and 383 cubic
inches, the ZZ383/425 delivers incredible torque with smooth,
linear delivery. If you're looking for a small-block
package that delivers big-block power, then you've found it.
425 horsepower at an incredibly low 5400 RPM, and 460 ft-lbs.
of torque at 4500 RPM make this the ideal hot street engine or
off road powerhouse.
The excellent air handling and combustion characteristics
of the Fast Burn cylinder heads combined with the ZZ383/425's
3.800" stroke, make this engine the benchmark against which
all other 383 inch small-blocks should be measured. And
it's tough, too. The 4340 nitrided and induction
hardened crank and unique forged PM rods see to that.
The 9.1 to 1 compression ratio ensures that the ZZ383/425 is
92 octane pump gas friendly.
The ZZ383/425 gets a stout .509/.528 lift steel camshaft,
with 222/230 duration at .050 lift. Hydraulic roller
lifters and GM's time tested 1.5 to 1 roller rocker arms round
out the valve train. And, of course, it has the Fast
Burn head's lightweight stainless steel valves and retainers
for reliable performance at extended RPM.
GM's testing was completed using a GM single plane intake,
P/N 12496822 and a 750 CFM Demon carburetor with mechanical
secondaries. Test header specs are: 1 3/4"
primaries, 33 inches long with 4-inch collectors.
GM dual plane intake P/N 12366573 may be used for hood
clearance on the ZZ383/425, but results in a decrease in peak
horsepower of approximately 15-20 horsepower. GM Crate
Engines are horsepower rated to SAE
Standards.

12498826 ZZ572/720R Base Crate
Engine Engineered by GM Performance
Parts and GM Racing exclusively for sportsman racers, the new
ZZ572/720R is built around an all-new Gen VI tall deck Bow Tie
big block. This all new race block is filled with a forged
4340 steel crank with 4.375 inch stroke, shot peened forged
4340 H-beam rods, and forged aluminum pistons with full
floating wrist pins. Plasma moly piston rings are standard as
is the screened and louvered windage tray. GM's first
purpose-built drag race engine is filled with hard core race
parts for hard core performance and long term
durability.
The redesigned rectangular port aluminum
cylinder heads result in a race gas only 12 to 1 compression
ratio. A solid roller cam with 0.714 inch lift actuates the
stainless steel valves. And, of course, hardened chromemoly
retainers, roller rocker arms, and dual valve springs are used
to complete the valve train.
This engine makes the 720
horsepower at 6250 RPM and 685 ft. lbs. of torque at 4500 RPM.
Out of the crate and into your race car - it's just that
simple.
Race gas fueled, high revving horsepower, all
from GM, the ZZ572/720R is the engine that will get you down
the track consistently, pass after pass, season after
season.
GM Crate Engines are horsepower rated to SAE
Standards.

12568774 454 HO The 454 HO offers tremendous value in a big block
crate engine. Based on the Gen VI block, this 425 horsepower
cast iron head engine is a great choice for that muscle car in
the garage. We've heard of several of our customers replacing
their rare matching number 396, 427 or 454 with our 454 HO in
order to drive their car on today's gasoline without fear of
destroying their classic engine. The HO stands for high
output, it also stands for big valves, rectangular ports,
forged pistons, forged steel crankshaft, forged connecting
rods and four bolt mains. Sounds a lot like the performance
big blocks of the late 60's doesn't it? When you add in the
steel roller camshaft, shotpeened rods, windage tray, one
piece rear main seal and high speed single roller timing
chain, it starts to sound more like the performance big block
of the new millennium. And it is.
The 454 HO makes 500 ft.lbs of torque with its rectangular
port open chamber cylinder heads. With 118cc combustion
chambers, the modest 8.75 to 1 compression ratio loves today's
pump premium and has no appetite for lead, octane boosters or
other fuel additives. Its 2.19" intake and 1.88" exhaust
valves and high lift .510"/.540" roller cam let it breathe
with the best of the early muscle motors.
With your carburetor, HEI distributor, exhaust system and
bright red '67 Corvette coupe (sold separately 34 years ago),
you've got a muscle cruiser worthy of your time, effort and
expertise. And, if you want to use your muscle car's fuel
system with a mechanical fuel pump, you can because the 454 HO
Gen VI block has a conventional style fuel pump boss.
The 454 HO is not intended for marine use, and should only
be used in 1976 and earlier pre-emissions street vehicles or
any year off road vehicles.

12568778 502 HO There is no replacement for displacement, and
torque is king. With 550 Ft. Lbs. of torque the 502 HO will
launch your car harder than you thought possible. With its 450
horsepower and awesome torque the 502 HO may have the best
power to dollar ratio going. If your car is all steel, you'll
appreciate the power of the 502 HO and if your car is a light
weight racer, say 2300 pounds, the 550 ft.lbs. of torque will
put a big ol' grin on your face. This engine is awesome.
Starting with a Gen VI four bolt main block, we fill it with
forged pistons, forged 4340 steel connecting rods with 7/16"
bolts, a 1053 forged steel crankshaft, and a steel roller
camshaft. Then we torque down a pair of big breathing
rectangular port heads with 2.19" intake and 1.88" exhaust
valves. With their 118cc combustion chambers yielding a
streetable 8.75 to 1 compression ratio, this engine is ready
to rock on readily available pump premium. We then top it all
off with an aluminum dual plane intake manifold and dress the
engine with a cast iron water pump, 6 quart oil pan, windage
tray, 14" flexplate and torsional damper. So, all you need to
do is provide an 750 cfm carburetor, HEI ignition system,
headers with 2"x30" primaries and low restriction mufflers and
a car with big sticky tires. Sounds simple, and it is. Check
with your GM Performance Parts Authorized Center for specific
oil pan needs for your application. The 502 HO requires an
electric fuel pump because the 502 Gen VI block has no
mechanical fuel pump boss. The 502 HO is not intended for
marine use, and should only be used in 1975 and earlier
pre-emissions street vehicles or any year off road
vehicles.

24502609 ZZ4 Imagine an aluminum head small block that makes 355
horsepower. What if it had a steel roller camshaft, four bolt
main block, undercut rolled fillet crankshaft, high silicon
pistons and strong PM connecting rods? We imagined it, and
then engineered, developed, tested and built it. The ZZ4 is
the evolution of our popular ZZ series of small blocks that
power thousands of street rods, hot street cars, circle track
racers and drag racers. With over 400 ft.lbs. of torque, the
ZZ4 is the best way to put an aluminum head, roller cam, high
performance small block between your favorite fenders. The
aluminum angle plug cylinder heads have screw in rocker studs,
1.94" intake and 1.50" exhaust valves and 58cc combustion
chambers that yield a crisp and responsive 10 to 1 compression
ratio. Also included are our lightweight valve spring
retainers that weigh half as much as our previous design. The
valve seats are radiused and we've included valve stem seals
to help keep the oil where it belongs. To compliment the
cylinder head design, we've incorporated a steel roller tappet
camshaft with .474" intake and .510" exhaust valve lift. The
combination makes 355 horsepower at 5250 rpm and has that
great sounding muscle car idle, with just enough lope to let
people know that this is no station wagon engine. Also
included with the ZZ4 is an HEI distributor with an ignition
timing advance curve developed for performance, a dual plane
aluminum intake manifold that accepts your spread bore or
square bore carburetor, an 8" high-RPM torsional damper,
12.75" auto trans flex plate and cast iron water pump. The ZZ4
is currently our most popular crate engine, and you can see
why. With a long history of successes in circle track and drag
racing as well as street rods and other performance
applications, the ZZ4 may just be the bullet for your next
project. The ZZ4 is not intended for marine use, and should
only be used in 1976 and earlier pre-emissions street vehicles
or any year off road vehicles.

88890533 502 Retro-Kit Truck Engine
Conversion Kit This new
emission-legal (50 state) Retro-Kit engine conversion kit is
designed for 1991-93 Chevrolet and GMC 10, 20 and 30-series
trucks with 2-wheel drive, originally equipped with a 454 TBI
engine and 4L80E automatic overdrive transmission. (Will not
work on 4-wheel drive because of exhaust interference.)
Factory engineered for improved towing performance, the
massive GEN 6 502 big-block is a bolt-in replacement for a
high mileage 454. The increased displacement and improved
breathing produces a significant improvement in pulling power
over the production 454 truck engine.
The 502 engine is tuned for torque with high velocity round
port heads and Vortec L29 hydraulic roller camshaft. This
combination yields 515 lb ft. of torque at a stump pulling
2800 rpm and 320 horsepower at 4400 rpm. This retro-kit engine
package uses the same rugged bottom end as the 502 HO engine
assembly. The siamesed bore block incorporates four-bolt main
bearing caps, a forged steel crankshaft, heavy duty connecting
rods and forged aluminum pistons. The long block assembly
comes fully assembled and is designed to utilize the existing
454 TBI inlet manifold, ignition system and accessory drive
components.
A specific engine computer chip, dual catalyst exhaust
system, and additional fuel and transmission hardware is
included to complete the conversion. The California Air
Resources Board (CARB) has issued an exemption order for this
conversion. (Automatic transmission use only)

88890534 HT 502 The key to towing performance is torque, and the HT
502 crate engine has got a whole lot of it. Not only does this
crate engine make torque, but it makes it right where you need
it, way down low. With 512 ft.lbs. of torque at an incredibly
low 2800 RPM and 338 horse power at 4500 RPM, this engine will
climb hills, accelerate onto the highway and pull out to pass
with the sort of confidence that you've come to expect from a
GM Performance Parts crate engine.
So for not too much more than a rebuild of your tired big
block tow motor, you can step up to an all new HT 502
developed specifically for towing and heavy vehicle
applications in 20 and 30 series light duty trucks. If you're
concerned about durability, don't be. We've used the same four
bolt block that we use in our other high performance 502's,
and filled it with a forged crankshaft, forged connecting
rods, and forged pistons. It even has a steel roller camshaft,
designed to work in perfect harmony with the high velocity
cast iron cylinder heads. The heads, with their moderately
sized valves and round intake ports, ensure maximum cylinder
fill at low RPM, and that means excellent low RPM efficiency
that equates to maximized low end power and torque.
The 502 Truck Conversion engine comes assembled, but needs
your intake manifold, carburetor, water pump and distributor
to run. It's time to upgrade, and GM Performance Parts has
your engine, the HT 502 is a High Torque workhorse that will
get you, your trailer and your crew to the races without even
breaking a sweat.
The HT 502 is intended for 1976 and earlier Chevrolet and
GMC 20-series and 30 series trucks. The HT 502 is not intended
for use with electronic fuel injection. When used with
electronic fuel injection, under certain heavy load and high
altitude conditions, engine damage may occur due to a lean
fuel mixture condition.
The HT 502 is not intended for marine use, and should only
be used in 1976 and earlier pre-emissions street vehicles or
any year off road vehicles.
